About MON
The Museu Oscar Niemeyer (MON) is state heritage site, linked to the State Secretary for Social Communication and Culture of Paraná. Inaugurated on November 22, 2002, it is housed in iconic buildings designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.
With over 15 exhibition spaces, around 20 exhibitions are held each year, which attract an average audience of 360,000 people.
At the opening ceremony of the Museum, Niemeyer noted his joy with the building, saying he was as moved as he was on the occasion of the inauguration of the works in Brasília. That day, the architect declared: “it is an architecture that is different from everything you have seen before. Made up entirely of audacity, technique and fantasy”.
